Photos I’ll never take

Due to take part in an exhibition/festival in Birmingham ( May ) and London ( June)

Its called Fertility Fest and is about all assisted and alternative routes to parenthood. I will be showing “Photos I’ll never take” in the exhibition and will also be on a panel showing my work as a slideshow, with others, before a discussion. Katie Barlow, who has filmed my project will also be showing her film about childlessness. It may sound strange to have Katie and myself at the exhibition, as our work is about childlessness, but we both went down the route of assisted parenthood, before drawing a line. Its quite nerve racking having to speak on a stage, and be surrounded by a lot of people who have been successful, but its also quite exciting. We will also be paid to take part (that’s a first for me).

I’ll be photographing some more pictures this weekend, for the exhibition and Katie’s film.

I’ll post more details about Fertility Fest, when its all confirmed.

I am an artist working with photography. I like to work by using performance and then photographing the performance. I seem to be increasingly using the moving image alongside the photographs. I spent over 15 years working in mental health, whilst also practising art in a studio in Spitalfields market. I then became involved in regeneration projects and was one of the team who won a lottery grant for Hastings Pier to be rebuilt. I am now concentrating more on my art practice.
